Academic Board and its Committees

ACADEMIC BOARD

The Academic Board is constituted in accordance with the provisions of Articles 4(1) and 4(2)of the Articles of Government and operates within Terms of Reference set out in Article 3(3).

Purpose

The Academic Board will advise the Vice Chancellor and, where relevant, the Board of Governors, on key issues affecting the student experience, learning, teaching and assessment, research and knowledge exchange, external relations and new partnerships, and the range of academic subjects and developments.  The Academic Board is supported by a senior committee for each of these areas which will be chaired by the appropriate member of the SMT responsible for leading and managing the specific area of activity and for ensuring its delivery by services, faculties to the University strategy.  

The Committee will receive formal reports from all sub-committees at each meeting

LEARNING, TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE

Delegated Responsibility
The Learning, Teaching and Assessment Committee has delegated responsibility from Academic Board for oversight of the University's quality management and enhancement framework for all taught provision (undergraduate, postgraduate taught, continuing professional development).

UWE FEDERATION GROUP

The UWE Federation Group has responsibility for co-ordinating the development and implementation of the University's regional and national (i.e. UK Based) collaborative strategy covering the recruitment and support of students, partnerships with the UWE Federation with particular emphasis on regional FE Colleges.

INTERNATIONALISATION STRATEGY GROUP

The Internationalisation Strategy Group has responsibility for co-ordinating the development and implementation of the University's internationalisation strategy covering the recruitment and support of students, partnerships with institutions and organisations and research and knowledge exchange activity. The strategy will be designed to maximise UWE's capabilities in teaching, research and knowledge exchange with the purpose of achieving the strategic objectives identified in the mission statement and enhancing the University's reputation.
